C. Cowles & Company was founded in New Haven, Connecticut over 180 years ago. The company has evolved from manufacturing hardware and lanterns for horse drawn carriages to a multi-divisional manufacturer serving the automotive, heating and other industries.
Today, under the wholly owned subsidiary, Cowles Operating Company, the business operates three divisions: Cowles Products Company, a plastic profile extruder serving the automotive and other industries with a wide variety of protective and decorative moldings, and Carlin Combustion Technology & Hydrolevel Company. Combined these two divisions serve the residential and commercial heating markets with a variety of products including; Oil and gas fired burners, flow switches, as well as temperature and liquid level safety controls.
With a constant focus on product development and improved manufacturing methods, these divisions maintain leadership roles in the industries they serve.
